Artisan Feature - Jeremy Francis Bell

Posted on April 06, 2016 by Kai D. Fan

Jeremy Francis Bell is a Brooklyn based figurative oil painter.  I first met Jeremy at my store where we had a great conversation about his experience of making a pair of shoes from scratch.  Then he showed me a bound journal that he had made for himself.  I was immediately impressed and intrigued about his skills and background.

Then I commissioned him to make several fabric covered boxes to display my ties and pocket squares.  He impressed me again with the meticulous craftsmanship for the boxes he made.

Jeremy had worked as a Conservation Technician at The Yale University Art Gallery, in New Haven CT before pursuing painting full time.  He studied under master painter, Odd Nerdrum at his home and studios in Paris and Norway.   His work shows the classical figurative painting techniques but combined with invented narratives from his own experience and interactions with real people.   His paintings reflects the journey of the subject and its relationship to an objective human experience.
