Came home to Brooklyn and spent seven years perfecting his own recipe: a secret mix of honey from Pennsylvania, chilies from Minas Gerais in Southern Brazil, and vinegar. “It’s always been a dream of mine to become a condiment man, and I feel like I’m taking the steps necessary, at this point, to reach that goal.”

Sycamore creates hand-tied bouquets and artisanal pottery during the day, and pours small-batch bourbons, microbrews, and barley wine at night. It also hosts live performances by local musicians. “We liked the idea of combining two businesses in one place, like Marlow and Sons in Williamsburg where there’s a little grocery shop up front and a dining space in the back… This is the perfect place for a boyfriend. If he’s not in a fight, he can come in for flowers. If he’s in a fight, he can come, talk to the bartender, realize he’s wrong and then get flowers.”
