Posted on October 03, 2013

This weekend, October 4th - 6th, Kai D. and Pop Shops are collaborating together to bring you a mobile retail truck on the road. Be sure to follow them on twitter @thepopshops to get their exact location.

Pop Shops creates multi-channel shopping events for emerging designers, online and in a less traditional retail format, through their high-end retail truck. They have taken the best-in-class business practices from pop-up retailing, high-end food trucks, and online retailers and merged them together into one model. They bring fashions top emerging apparel and accessory designers directly to you. A shopping experience like you've never seen before, as if you were shopping directly in a showroom or straight from each designer's atelier. Other designers taking part this weekend are, Michelle Vale, Nesh, Kordal Knitwear, and Cecilia Gonzoles.

Their goal is to create events that are exciting, engaging, and inspiring to customers through a unique avenue. "We want to bring amazing designers with limited distribution directly to the customer" Caryn Neary, founder and CEO of The Pop Shops.

Be sure to stop by and check us out!

Posted on September 23, 2013

It has been a long wait.  Our Fall 13 collection is finally complete.  Inspired by the Terra Nova Expedition led by captain Robert Falcon Scott with the objective of being the first to reach the geographical South Pole.  For this collection, we are using the compact wool felt from Bacci, an Italian artisan mill based just outside of Florence, as well as the timeless wax cotton from Japan.  Our new tie collection is made out of English tweed.  The super comfortable

An Explorer's Tale

Posted on May 13, 2013

As a designer who works in New York, I have always fantasized about the life of an explorer, travelling to places where there's no wifi, no advertisement of any sort, no starbucks, and no pollution by humans.  What life would be like to blend harmoniously with nature?  What inspiration would I get to explore palpable and tangible living things than to sit in front of a computer using the internet 'explorer' or

Anthony Marinos from Grind

Posted on March 29, 2013

I met Anthony Marinos at Grind (www.grindspaces.com) where he holds the position 'formerly known as Sales and Marketing'.  As soon as I walked into Grind, I instantly feel a great vibe of energy with big open space full of casual and yet stylish people working on their own projects.  Grind is a members-only workspace and community for anybody who dislikes the traditional office space and embrace the collaborative environment to connect with other like-minded entrepreneurs and professionals.  At Grind, there're many mantras that describe and define the culture of the community, one of Anthony's favorites has to be 'if today feels just like yesterday, something's wrong'.  This also reflects on Anthony's personal style.  'I've never understood why there has to be a 'work you' and a 'personal you.'

Visit to CEGO, Custom Shirt Maker in New York

Posted on March 25, 2013

I spent an afternoon with Carl Goldberg from CEGO, a custom shirt maker in New York over for 25 years.  CEGO's shirts appear in many leading Broadway productions, network television shows, as well as being worn by many stylish New Yorkers.  I have tried on the different fit blocks and am very impressed with the fit (I am known to be extremely critical in terms of the fit).  The shirts are slim in the all the right places and yet not restrictive for movement (a very important aspect for my active lifestyle).  The shirts are all made in USA.
