I met Anthony Marinos at Grind (www.grindspaces.com) where he holds the position 'formerly known as Sales and Marketing'. As soon as I walked into Grind, I instantly feel a great vibe of energy with big open space full of casual and yet stylish people working on their own projects. Grind is a members-only workspace and community for anybody who dislikes the traditional office space and embrace the collaborative environment to connect with other like-minded entrepreneurs and professionals. At Grind, there're many mantras that describe and define the culture of the community, one of Anthony's favorites has to be 'if today feels just like yesterday, something's wrong'. This also reflects on Anthony's personal style. 'I've never understood why there has to be a 'work you' and a 'personal you.'
I spent an afternoon with Carl Goldberg from CEGO, a custom shirt maker in New York over for 25 years. CEGO's shirts appear in many leading Broadway productions, network television shows, as well as being worn by many stylish New Yorkers. I have tried on the different fit blocks and am very impressed with the fit (I am known to be extremely critical in terms of the fit). The shirts are slim in the all the right places and yet not restrictive for movement (a very important aspect for my active lifestyle). The shirts are all made in USA.

shop in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Builds interiors and all products within: refined
forms of candlesticks, soaps, chandeliers, furniture, and more. Inspired by
architecture, clean lines, organic composition, and his family – especially his
wife and design partner, Jean, who occupies the other half of the design
collaborative.
Creator of Mike’s Hot Honey. Discovered spicy pepper infused
honey in a pizzeria while hiking through a small town in Brazil. Came home to
Brooklyn and spent seven years perfecting his own recipe: a secret mix of honey
from Pennsylvania, chilies from Minas Gerais in Southern Brazil, and vinegar.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to become a condiment man, and I feel like
I’m taking the steps necessary, at this point, to reach that goal.”

Co-founder Farm to Baby, (with partner
Lauren Utvitch), a service that delivers natural, organic, freshly prepared
baby food made from produce grown in local farms. The service also reuses bags
and jars that the food is delivered in. “Together with you and our farmers,
we’re working to leave the earth better then we found it… we might not be able
to save the planet, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.”
Printer and owner of Haven Press Studio, a print shop born
out of the interest to make printmaking accessible to artists, designers,
publishers, and people who are interested in having something make into an
edition the old fashion way – by crafting a set through hand-printing. “We
print fine art by hand… We want to make things and to help you make things as
well. We think printing is something that most anyone can, (and should) learn
about.”
Opened Sycamore Flower Shop & Bar, located in the leafy,
quiet corner of Ditmas Park. Sycamore creates hand-tied bouquets and artisanal
pottery during the day, and pours small-batch bourbons, microbrews, and barley
wine at night. It also hosts live performances by local musicians. “We liked
the idea of combining two businesses in one place, like Marlow and Sons in
Williamsburg where there’s a little grocery shop up front and a dining space in
the back… This is the perfect place for a boyfriend. If he’s not in a fight, he
can come in for flowers. If he’s in a fight, he can come, talk to the
bartender, realize he’s wrong and then get flowers.”
